(17)Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know beforehand, beware lest,
being carried away with the error of the lawless, ye fall from your
own steadfastness. (18)But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory, both now and forever.

THE FIRST GENERAL LETTER OF JOHN.
I.
THAT which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that
which we have seen with our eyes, that which we looked upon, and our
hands handled, concerning the Word of life; (2)(and the life was
manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and report to you the
eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested to us;)
(3)that which we have seen and have heard we report to you also, that
ye also may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with
the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. (4)And these things we
write to you, that your joy may be full.
(5)And this is the message which we have heard from him, and announce
to you, That God is light, and in him there is no darkness.
(6)If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in the
darkness, we lie, and do not the truth; (7)but if we walk in the
light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and

that he may forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all
unrighteousness. (10)If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a
liar, and his word is not in us.

not for ours only, but also for the whole world.
(3)And in this we know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
(4)He that says, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a
liar, and the truth is not in him. (5)But whoever keeps his word, of a
truth in him the love of God is perfected. In this we know that we are
in him. (6)He that says he abides in him ought, as he walked, himself
also so to walk.
(7)Beloved, I write not to you a new commandment, but an old
commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is
the word which ye heard fr
