de vous remercier encore de l'agreable bout de chemin que vous m'avez fait
faire en votre compagnie. C'est de coeur que je vous suis devoue pour la
vie."

Ils se serrerent la main a plusieurs reprises, et, au moment de quitter
l'appartement, le baron, s'approchant de Joseph, lui remit quelques pieces
d'or en lui disant:

"C'est un a-compte sur les lecons que je vous demanderai a Vienne; vous me
trouverez a l'ambassade de Prusse."

Il fit un petit signe de tete a Consuelo, en lui disant:

"Toi, si jamais je te retrouve tambour ou trompette dans mon regiment,
nous deserterons ensemble, entends-tu?"

Et il sortit, apres avoir encore salue le comte.
