with our spirit, that we are the children of God: and if children,
then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ: if so be
that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
THE GOSPEL. St Matth. vii. 15.
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing,
but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their
fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even
so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree
bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil
fruit; neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every
tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast
into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not
every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the
kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which
is in heaven.
THE NINTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY
THE COLLECT.
Grant to us, Lord, we beseech thee, the spirit to think and do
always such things as be rightful; that we, who cannot do any thing
that is good without thee, may by thee be enabled to live according
to thy will; through Jesus Christ our Lord. _Amen_.

things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after
evil things, as they also lusted. Neither be ye idolaters, as were
some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and
drink, and rose up to play. Neither let us commit fornication,
as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty
thousand. Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted,
and were destroyed of serpents. Neither murmur ye, as some of them
also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. Now all these
things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for
our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. Wherefore
let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. There
hath no temptation taken you, but such
