ed up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
And he gave some Apostles, and some Prophets, and some Evangelists,
and some Pastors and Teachers; for the perfecting of the saints for
the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ;
till we all come, in the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of
the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature
of the fulness of Christ.
_After this shall be read for the Gospel part of the ninth chapter
of Saint Matthew, as followeth_.
_St Matth_. ix. 36.
When Jesus saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on
them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep
having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest
truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; pray ye therefore

good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the
sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and
fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. The
hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the
sheep. I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and
