The Works of, published by the Sydenham Society, London, 1841, are well worth reading, as giving a clear understanding of the status of medicine in the seventh century. Sprengal, K. P. J. Histoire de la medecine depuis son origine jusqu'au dix-neuvieme siecle, 8 vols., Paris, 1815-1820. This is a French translation of the German work, and is more available than the original volumes.
