[As he is going, FRIESSHARDT, presenting his pike, stops him.

TELL (seizing the pike).

LEUTHOLD.

WALTER.

[Calling to the side scene.

[ROSSELMANN, the priest, and the SACRISTAN, with
three other men, enter.

SACRISTAN.

TELL (seizing him with violence).

WALTER (descries FURST, and runs up to him).

FRIESSHARDT.
Away to prison!

FURST (running in).
Stay! I offer bail.

[MELCHTHAL and STAUFFACHER enter.

LEUTHOLD.

STAUFFACHER.
