He lived, and lives still--thanks to the skill and care of Doctor Danton." Kate clasped her hands with a fervent prayer of thanksgiving. I saw him that very afternoon, and had a long talk with him. He told me his name was Doctor Danton, that he had come from Germany on business, and must return in a very few days now. He said he had friends in Canada, whom he had intended to visit, but this unfortunate affair had prevented him. He had not the heart to leave us in our forlorn and dangerous state.
